Jeffrey Butler

Jeffery Butler, 72, of Schenectady passed away November 3, 2022 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Utica, NY. He was born September 24,1950 in Brooklyn, NY to Leslie Butler and Lewis Belle. He was one of nine children and of the Baptist faith. Jeff was self-employed in maintenance. He also mentored at the Boys and Girls Club in Bedsty. Jeff will be remembered for his love of family, basketball, gambling and food. He was greatly loved and will be missed. Jeffery is survived by his four sisters : Sheila Butler, Cookie, Angela Butler (s) Michael, Wyonna Butler (s) Steve. Two brothers : Rayfus Butler and Jackie Butler. Four daughters : Cassandra Smith (significant other Denroy Paige), Moria Spearman, Jacqueline Spearman, and Ronette Hinson. Two sons : Jeffery Smith and Mel Cooper. Fourteen grandchildren: Tykim Smith, Virgilio Smith, Kyra Smith, Yanna Smith, Jeffery Banks, Zaywan Spearman, Candy Spearman, Anthony Spearman, Zack Spearman, Alainah Williams, Precious Williams, Na’ Shawn Nabors, Mel Bryant, Nicholas Hinson. Eleven great-grandchildren: Julissa Smith, Virgilio Smith Jr, Skylar Smith, Zayla Spearman, Jaleel Spearman, Solae Luckett, Shiloh Williams, Samirah Williams, Zayvion Womack, Zylee Womack, Zion Womack, Cousin Pat & a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, & friends. Jeffery is predeceased by his mother Leslie Butler, Father Lewis Belle, wife Deborah Cooper, brother Russell Butler and two sisters Gerta Butler and Wanda Butler. A funeral service will be held on Friday November 11, 2022 at 10 am in the Curtis Funeral Home at 324 Hulett St Schenectady, NY. A Calling hour will be held from 9-10.
