Edwin Meyer

Edwin J. Meyer, 89 a resident of the Glendale Nursing Home, died at the home on June 29, 2021. Ed was an atheist and humanist. Ed spent his early years in far Rockaway Queens, then Fort Salonga, NY.He was a graduate of Drew University in New Jersey where he met his first wife, Ethel. They moved to Colorado where he trained at Iliff School of Theology And became a Methodist Minister in Hugo CO. He soon found teaching to be his greater calling. They moved to Eden New York where he taught English for a few years, then at Saratoga Springs High School until he retired. He was an avid canoeist, advisor to the high school canoe club, and lead several summer canoe camp expeditions to the mouth of the Hudson Bay. He was a critical source of inspiration to his students and his own kids, encouraging us all to be independent critical thinkers. After retirement, he and his wife Rhoda travel to Alaska, China, and Italy and They made their home in Rexford, New York .

He is survived by his four children Paul, Jim, Ken and Connie and Rhoda’s four children Joe, Susie, Anne and Steve.

Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family.
