Betty “Boop” Jean Copeland’ entered into the arms of her Lord and Savior on May 1, 2023. She was born on February 22, 1950 in Thomasville, GA. She was the eldest of “The 3 Copeland Girls” raised by her mother Ann Mason, father Elmer Copeland and step father Noah Mason. Betty also spent a lot of time with her grandmother Bertha Carter.
Ms Copeland studied early childhood development at NYU. After graduating she moved to Schenectady, NY. There she worked as a nurses aid and a caretaker at Refreshing Springs Church daycare.
Mother Betty gave birth to one son and was a foster mother of multiple children in Schenectady.
Betty Boop enjoyed fashion designing, traveling and being an active member in the church. She also had a passion for reading, writing and music. She brought joy and love to all she came in contact with.
Betty is survived by her son Tony, her grandchild Tona, her two younger sisters; Bertha and Pearlie, her two brother-in-laws; Kenny and Alton, her nieces and nephews; Hashan, Naima, Maekeshia, Jabri, Shari, and Yusuf, her great nieces and nephews; Zuri, Xoe, Isaac, Maliyah, Manyara, Elisha, Elijah, Jabir, Ava, Jac, her great-great nieces and nephew; Maziyah, Xianna and Gionni, Aunt Ira Mae & Uncle Theodore and a host of cousins. Memorial services will be heldMay 27, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Refreshing Springs Community Church 327 Georgetta Dix Blvd. Schenectady, NY 12307.
